What is DUDE?

Q: Where does the name DUDE come from? What does it mean?

A: DUDE was originally chosen by the UCSD Air Squids (who founded the org in 1994) as a ‘clever’ acronym for “Diego Ultimate Disc Experience”.

To many people in Southern California, ‘dude’ is a non-gendered word. The popular usage of ‘dude’ has roots in surfing culture, and evokes San Diego’s fun-loving beach culture.

DUDE promotes opportunities in the sport of Ultimate for all its members.

Q: Who is DUDE?

You!  By signing up for an event, filling out the required paperwork, and agreeing to its terms, you are agreeing to become a member of DUDE.  Everyone who has signed up for an event is a member of DUDE and can expect many great opportunities to play ultimate throughout the year, largely supported by your registration fee.
