Profile
The Mercer County Amateur Masters Soccer League (MCAMSL) is an adult soccer league that plays competitive, outdoor, recreational soccer in Mercer County, New Jersey. We are also known as Mercer Men’s Soccer, even though several teams have women on the roster.
Our goal is to play organized, quality soccer on the best local fields with friends who love the game and savvy officials who respect the game, all at the lowest price, in order to have fun, stay in shape, and still make it to work the next day.
Although we draw players mostly from Mercer County, we welcome all players and teams willing to make the weekly trek. We are always looking to expand our league with additional players, teams and divisions. If you are a player looking for a team, or a team looking for a league, please send us an email with your info, or feel free to come to a game and talk to a team captain or the League President.
DIVISIONS
We have an over-30 division that plays Sunday mornings, and an over-40 division that plays weeknights from September through November and from late March to through June. We also have an OPEN division that plays weeknights from mid-June through July. For current options see divisions page.
FORMAT
We play 11 v 11 OUTDOORS on full size soccer fields with two 40-minute halves utilizing professional referees. Roster sizes up to 25 players but typically 15 players at each game.
FIELDS
We rent the best grass and artificial turf fields from the county and various townships, soccer clubs, schools, and colleges. See Field Locations.
AGE RESTRICTIONS
OPEN – minimum age 17 by end of year, vast majority of players age 18 to 28
30 & Over – minimum age 28 (or 18 if goalkeeper)
40 & Over – minimum age 38 (or 28 if goalkeeper)
Players must turn the minimum age by December 31st of current calendar year (so yes, you could be 16, 27, or 37 and still play if your birthday is later in the calendar year). Exceptions are very rarely granted, but compelling requests may be made to the league at in**@me*************.net. Exceptions are generally made for women players.
RULES & REGS
Rules are posted online. We play FIFA rules with only minor modifications. There are unlimited substitutions at any stoppage recognized by referee. Yellow cards require stepping off the field, but players may be substituted. Slide tackling is NOT allowed in the over-40 division, but is allowed in other divisions. All players MUST fill out and sign a player application form that includes a Hold Harmless Agreement before they can play.
SCHEDULE
Field location and final schedule will be provided online a week or two before the season starts. Rained out games will be re-scheduled when possible (not necessarily on same day of week). Final rain out decisions and schedule changes will be posted online 2 hours before scheduled kickoff. ALWAYS be sure to check web site before heading to your game.
