WELCOME TO LAKE KEOWEE SENIOR SOFTBALL
You’ve joined a group of individuals who enjoy the sport of softball, camaraderie, and fellowships with other like-minded individuals. We play to win. We play to get better. We play because we are still able to do so.
We play in the Clayton Senior Softball League.
There are currently three teams (see each team page for team objectives):
1. Lakers – Players are at least 58 years old (by December of the season year)
2. Eagles – Players are at least 68 years old (by December of season year)
3. Zenith – Players who have access to additional playing time in non-league games
Below are some items you should know as you prepare to play in these senior softball leagues.
March Practices
Practices in March are focused on renewing the basics of fielding and hitting. All three teams are on the field(s) simultaneously. Separate team-specific practices for fielding assignments and the like are held at the teams’ discretion and organized by the respective coaches.
Scrimmages are open to individuals who are >50 years old.
Regular Season Practices
Regular season practices include a quick round of hitting practice (e.g., everyone get 5-10 pitches) and then a intrasquad scrimmage. Player hitting statistics are kept and included in the end of year award discussions.
Scrimmages are are open to individuals who are >50 years old.
Game Day
Game day includes a double header at the designated time and field. During the hour prior to the first game there is a quick round of batting practice, a gathering of teams for prayer requests, a pre-game prayer, and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
IMPORTANT: You’ll want to bring a lunch for between games and plenty to drink. It gets very hot so consider bringing towels, ice, coolers, etc. to help you stay cooled down and healthy. Several player bring camping chairs.
