We are the non-profit organization behind the Castro League, the oldest gay basketball league in the world. We operate community open gym play and run the Castro League for both fall and spring seasons. Highly skilled and less skilled men and women of every race and creed – gay, straight, bisexual, and transgender – have all participated. Diversity and inclusion have been the program’s hallmarks. Today, the SFGBA operates open gym hours twice monthly for players and the greater San Francisco Bay Area community. We also organize spring and fall league seasons that are open to players of all skill levels. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, gender, gender expression, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age. Our goal has remained to provide a means of fellowship for LGBTQ basketball players, to nurture athleticism among our members, and to support the San Francisco Bay Area community.
