The Rocky Mountain Rugby Union, known as Rocky Mountain Rugby, is a geographical union (GU) within USA Rugby that encompasses one of the nation’s most historic rugby-playing areas. Rocky Mountain member clubs have captured 37 national championships, including 31 at the highest level of competition for the programs who won them (Premier/D1). Overall, Rocky Mountain teams have appeared in nearly 60 national championship finals since 1979, when USA Rugby first began conducting national championships. The union currently consists of 24 senior men’s clubs, 8 senior women’s clubs, 19 collegiate men’s programs, and 13 collegiate women’s programs. The union also has 13 additional college programs that are currently dormant/inactive as well as 5 dormant/inactive senior club programs, for a grand total of 82 member clubs (64 active, 18 inactive/dormant).
