More than 40 years ago, four teams started the Golden Gate Women’s Soccer League with the goal of providing women of all backgrounds, abilities, and ages the opportunity to play soccer. Since then, GGWSL has evolved in its mission, and today it strives to teach, promote, facilitate, and develop the game of soccer for female, trans, and non-binary players throughout the Bay Area. Now a nonprofit, GGWSL gives back to the community in the form of donations and partnerships with local organizations that work with youth and girls’ soccer.
