A Huge Variety of Adult Athletics Offered by Cobb County
Seeking athletic activities? Cobb County’s Parks and Recreation Department offers year-round programs for adults aged 18 and up. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or beginner, there’s something for everyone.
Basketball leagues feature men’s and women’s divisions at multiple skill levels. Teams compete in 10-game seasons followed by playoffs. The department’s indoor facilities host games on weekday evenings.
Softball remains one of the county’s most popular sports, with leagues for all abilities running spring through fall. Both slow-pitch and modified pitch options are available for men’s, women’s, and coed teams.
The tennis program includes lessons, leagues, and tournaments at various county courts. Professional instructors teach fundamentals while advanced players can join USTA-sanctioned competitions.
Volleyball enthusiasts can participate in indoor leagues year-round or outdoor sand volleyball during warmer months. Both recreational and competitive divisions ensure appropriate matchups.
Flag football leagues run in spring and fall, featuring 7-on-7 format games. Teams play eight regular-season games plus playoffs at county parks with lighted fields.
Additionally, the department organizes swimming programs, pickleball leagues, and running clubs. Special events like tournaments and fitness challenges occur throughout the year.
Registration typically opens several weeks before each season. Teams can register online or at recreation centers. Individual players may join as “free agents” to be placed on teams needing players.
