MISSION STATEMENT
The Capital Area Rainbowlers Association (CARA) is a member-supported organization composed of gay and lesbian bowling leagues in the metropolitan Washington, DC area. CARA serves to promote the sport of bowling in the national capital area’s LGBT community.
CARA Leagues
There are FIVE Fall/Winter CARA leagues with about 270 bowlers and one Summer CARA league in the metropolitan Washington, DC area. Although the team size, number of games, times, and nights vary, the one thing our leagues all have in common is the goal of having fun.
All leagues are USBC sanctioned. All the leagues are handicap leagues open to bowlers of all skill levels. In addition to bowling, many leagues hold special activities such as holiday parties, end-of-season banquets, and awards presentations. Many league members also participate in CARA and IGBO-sponsored bowling tournaments. CARA operates an Incentive Awards Program and conducts Skill Enhancement Clinics during the bowling season.
