You don’t have to be an all-star to join this senior softball league. All you really need to be is, well, a Codger… that is, a 54+ year old who loves softball and would like to play the game on beautiful Cape Cod. Our mantra is Fun and Friendship. We love to compete, and our league has grown to 12 teams in two divisions. We play a full regular season schedule with playoffs in both divisions.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How often do you play?

The Codgers’ regular season runs from May to early September, including playoffs. Each team plays about 15-18 games, depending on their division. During the summer, league games are typically held once a week starting at 5:30 or 5:45 PM. Some weeks a team might play twice. Fall and Winter Ball, plus other activities, continue all year long.

Do I have to be a good athlete/softball player to join?

No! We have all levels of ability in the league, and we try to organize teams in such a way that they are evenly matched. Travel teams that will compete at a tournament level will be chosen by a tryout process. Regular Cape Codger league games are played by all player levels and, quite frankly, are the most fun!

Are you looking for players only?

Definitely not! We invite our friends that are interested in coaching, score-keeping, and umpiring. Additionally, people with any organizational ability that would like to be part of the league are very welcome!

Where do you play?

Games for both D1 and D2 divisions are held at Falmouth Heights Field, Nye Field in North Falmouth, and The School Admin Field in Falmouth.

Two Divisions

DIVISION 1 – The suggested ages for this division are 66 and above. Teams are reconfigured each year in a cooperative effort by the coaches to create parity between teams. However, D1 players may opt into the D2 draft. If you do, but you are not drafted, then you will be assigned to a D1 team.

DIVISION 2 – Suggested ages 54-65 (must be 54 by Oct 1). Players remain on the same team from year to year (though they may request to re-enter the draft in subsequent years), and players new to a team are chosen by draft. Teams are built with the hope and intention of maximizing winning, including the division championship.
