We are a community of people who work hard to promote the sport of rowing and who act as stewards of the Schuylkill River—all while having fun! BLJ Community Rowing embraces rowers of all skill levels, from every walk of life. Access to the river for all is our guiding principle! BLJ Community Rowing is the only African-American-owned and operated rowing organization in the country. Since 2013, we have utilized the sport of rowing to give others access to the Schuylkill and a vehicle to a better life. Our community firmly believes that when options are given, options can be created, and making rowing accessible is our priority.
ADULT LEARN TO ROW No prior experience is needed to register for our learn-to-row sessions. Sessions are held throughout the year; both group sessions and private sessions are available. After the completion of learn-to-row sessions, individuals typically become a member of our club where they will be integrated into our community, have access to social functions, and have the ability to train and race.

COLLEGIATE Collegiate rowers at BLJ may row with any crews during the year, check out boats, and train with our racing team with the approval of the Head Coach.

MASTERS Our masters program is geared toward adults of all ages. Rowers with prior experience are encouraged to become a member.
