The Canucks are Calgary’s only inner-city rugby club. Since 1968, we’ve been a staple of the rugby union scene in Alberta and are committed to growing the sport through safe and competitive play and a welcoming off-field culture. We’re one of the largest clubs in the province, with teams for men and women. Whether you’re new to the game, a seasoned veteran, or a tourist from overseas, we have a spot for players of all shapes, sizes, ages, or gender.
All our teams practice at Stanley Park in the heart of Calgary and play varying game schedules throughout the spring, summer, and fall months. Our club prides itself on having an active, supportive, and fun social culture off the pitch, where everyone feels welcome and included. We have a strong sense of community and are always looking to grow through new players, coaches, volunteers, and supporters.
There’s no judgment for skill or experience level, and we encourage anyone interested in playing or trying rugby to do so with the Canucks.
Senior Men Rugby (18+)
The Canucks Senior Men Program is our original rugby program that has fielded teams in the Alberta Rugby Union for over 50 years. The Senior Men have a deep history of competitive on-field performance and a strong off-field culture through traditions, events, and international tours. We field three men’s teams but function as one side with players of all ages and skill levels part of one culture. No matter your experience, there’s a spot for everyone in our Senior Men’s Program.
We are one of two clubs in Alberta that field three senior men’s teams, providing a range of gameplay options for players of all kinds based on commitment, skill, and competition level. There is no “set team” for any division, and many players play multiple teams throughout the season.
Senior Women Rugby (18+)
The Canucks Senior Women Program is our most recent addition to our club, formed in 2022. While the Senior Women haven’t been around for long, they’ve quickly built a competitive, positive, and welcoming program. The Senior Women have achieved significant success in their short time and are looking for new players to continue to build a foundation of Women’s Rugby at the Canucks.
We currently field one Senior Women’s team in the Senior Women’s Developmental Division (2).
